What is in this collection

HDRI Hub lists 77 published road-tagged HDRIs, priced $8 to $49, at resolutions from 6144x3072 to 16000x8000. Examples include HDR 108 River Road, a road running alongside a river; HDR 082 Road, an open rural road; and HDR 142 Rural Road, also available at 20000x10000.

When to use road HDRIs

• Automotive renders where the road surface and roadside scenery need to match under the vehicle.
• Establishing shots for a building sited along a road, using the HDRI's road as the connecting element.
• Reflections on car paint or windshield glass that need a realistic road-level view.
• Landscape or infrastructure renders where the road itself is the visible foreground.

Rendering notes

Match the camera height to the HDRI's original ground-level capture point so the road surface in the render lines up with the horizon in the panorama. For a directional shadow across the road, choose a clear-sky road HDRI and rotate it so the sun sits at the elevation and side the shot needs, since a lower sun produces a longer shadow across the road surface. HDR 142 Rural Road's 20000x10000 variant is worth the larger file size specifically when the road surface fills a large part of the frame or appears in a close reflection.
