20K HDRI skies

  • 25 published HDRIs carry the 20k tag: 19 Outdoor skies and 6 Space skies.
  • Prices range from $9.90 to $25 per variant.
  • The Outdoor set is delivered at 20000x10000 pixels.
  • Example skies include HDR 158 and HDR 159 Blue Evening Sky 20k, and HDR 180 Space Sky and Stars.

20000x10000 pixel HDRIs give a render enough sky detail to stay sharp when the sky itself is visible in frame, or when a large glossy surface reflects it up close. This collection lists every HDRI tagged 20k in the catalog.

What is in this collection

25 published HDRIs carry the 20k tag: 19 in the Outdoor category and 6 in the Space category. Prices range from $9.90 to $25 per variant. Examples: HDR 158 Blue Evening Sky 20k, HDR 159 Blue Evening Sky 20k and HDR 180-1 Space Sky and Stars.

When you need a 20k HDRI

A lower-resolution HDRI is fine when it only lights a scene from off-camera, but two situations call for the extra resolution here: the sky itself is visible in the final frame, for example behind a building or through a window, or the scene has a large, close, reflective surface such as glass, water or polished metal that mirrors sky detail up close. In both cases a blurry or blocky HDRI shows up immediately, either as a soft horizon line or as pixelated reflections.

Rendering notes

For a 4K output render, a 16K-or-higher HDRI applied across the full 360-degree sky hemisphere gives a sharp visible background and clean reflections, according to render engine vendor guidance; a 20000-pixel-wide file comfortably covers that requirement with headroom. Resolution mainly affects background sharpness and reflection detail, not lighting accuracy, so a smaller proxy version is fine for early lighting tests before switching to the full 20k file for final frames.
