Free HDRI environments for Corona Renderer

  • HDRI Hub offers 11 free HDRIs, up to 8192x4096, in .exr and .hdr.
  • The free HDRIs carry the same licence as paid files: commercial use for one user and one workstation.
  • Each free HDRI is ordered at zero cost from its product page, then downloaded like a paid order.
  • Corona Renderer 15 loads any of these as the environment map in place of CoronaSky.

HDRI Hub's 11 free HDRIs work in Corona Renderer the same way as the paid outdoor set. Order them at no cost from their product pages, then load one as the environment map to test lighting and reflections before buying a higher-resolution environment.

What the free HDRIs are

HDRI Hub publishes 11 free HDRIs at resolutions up to 8192x4096, delivered as .exr and, for most, also .hdr. The licence is the same as the paid catalogue: commercial use for one user and one workstation, ordered at zero cost directly from each product page.

Load one in Corona Renderer

  1. Order the free HDRI from its product page and download the .hdr or .exr file.
  2. Open Environment and Effects (press 8) and swap CoronaSky for a bitmap environment map.
  3. Load the file, or drag a CoronaBitmap into the Slate Material Editor and set Mapping to Spherical.
  4. Rotate the map to align the sun, and use a Corona Color Correct map to adjust exposure.

For the full 161-HDRI outdoor set with unclipped skies at up to 20000x10000, see the paid HDRI for Corona Renderer page.

The free files sit at a lower resolution than the paid catalogue, so they suit interior lighting tests and early layout checks more than a sky visible directly behind a building.
