Night city HDRI

  • 21 published HDRIs at HDRI Hub carry the night tag, priced $8 to $25.
  • Resolutions run from 4096x2048 up to 20000x10000 pixels.
  • 2 free night HDRIs are also available: HDR Night and HDR City Road Night Lights.
  • Real night skies and city glow rarely reach pure black, so a dim sky map keeps shadow areas readable instead of crushed.

These 21 HDRIs carry streetlights, building glow, or a night sky, priced $8 to $25 at resolutions from 4096x2048 to 20000x10000. They work as the ambient base for a dusk or night exterior render, where artificial lights and window spill do most of the visible work. Two free night HDRIs are also available on the free downloads page.

What is in this collection

HDRI Hub has 21 published night-tagged HDRIs, priced $8 to $25, at resolutions from 4096x2048 to 20000x10000. Examples include HDR 121 Night Sky, a plain night sky panorama; HDR 137 City Night Alley, an alley scene with artificial lighting; and HDR 171 City Road Night, a lit road available up to 8k. Two free files, HDR Night and HDR City Road Night Lights, are on the free HDRI downloads page.

When to use night city HDRIs

  • Dusk or night exterior renders where the building's own facade and window lighting carry the image, not the sun.
  • Automotive or product renders that need wet-road reflections and streetlight highlights.
  • Establishing shots for urban context where practical lights and signage read as the main light sources.
  • Interior renders shot through glazing at night, where the HDRI supplies the exterior glow seen through the windows.

Rendering notes

Expose for the highlights first, then recover shadow detail in a second pass, rather than trying to balance blown-out fixtures and dark facades in one exposure. Night HDRIs rarely reach pure black in the sky, since city glow and ambient light always add some brightness, so use the map as soft ambient fill behind the foreground artificial lights rather than as the main light source. Rotating the HDRI changes which side of the building catches the brightest streetlight or sign glow.
